The Marine Geophysics Laboratory

Marine Geophysics Laboratory

The Marine Geophysics Laboratory is a research, design and consultancy group at James Cook University. Our instruments have been developed for the needs of oceanographers, hydrologists and marine scientists operating on Australia's Great Barrier Reef. Field proven and robust, we offer sales and rental of nephelometers, current meters and river/ocean drifters to clients around the globe.

The Marotte HS (High Sampling Rate) is our next generation drag-tilt current meter. It features a new housing, and custom electronics developed in-house. The sensitivity of speed measurements has been increased, while the addition of a magnetometer allows for direction measurement without having to know the orientation of the instrument when deployed. Field-tested for reliability, it provides five-to-six month deployments, large storage capacity, and user-friendly configuration; making it the best datalogging current meter on the market.
