Lysann Schneider is an interdisciplinary scientist in the field of environmental social sciences and with long-term fieldwork experience in Latin America, especially Mexico. She is trained at the Humboldt-University and Free University in Berlin and at the University of Bern. In her recent project she conducts research on environmental change and changes in resource management of the Maya of the coastal areas of the Yucatán Peninsula by analysing historical, cultural, ecological, political, socio-economic and ideological dynamics. Methodologically she is interested in an inter- and transdisciplinary research approach that combines historical and social sciences with natural sciences.
